Since 1996, the Crealdé Storytellers Teen Documentary Photography Program, created by CEO/Executive Director and Documentary Photographer Peter Schreyer, has given photography instruction to students ages 13 to 17, providing the opportunity for self-expression while exploring the heritage of their community. From urban Orlando to suburban Apopka to rural Geneva, teens from around Central Florida have completed 18 photographic documentary exhibitions to date, some of which have traveled to Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach, and the State Capitol in Tallahassee. The 19th Storytellers in Sanford’s Goldsboro community will be the last in a trio of film-based projects taught by Peter Schreyer since 2016, including the Spring Hill community in DeLand and New Smyrna Beach west-side community. The 20th Storytellers in Eatonville will be the first taught by Documentary Photographer and Central Floridian Cynthia Slaughter, who was mentored by Peter during several of his traveling documentary master classes and exhibitions including St. Augustine at 450 in 2015 and The Lake: A Documentary Exploring the Land and People of Lake Apopka in 2017. Both programs are held in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.
